Steel Trounce North Stars

BREEZY POINT, Minn.-After suffering a tough overtime loss on Friday night, the Twin City Steel bounced back on Saturday as they beat the Breezy Point North Stars 11-5 at the Breezy Point Ice Arena.
The North Stars got on the board first early in the game. Joe Laskero scored unassisted at 3:09, as did Mitch Pearson at 13:31, to give the North Stars a 2-0 lead. Mathias Ahman scored on a Steel power play at 17:11 as Isaac Hale and Jace Childs picked up assists.
Blair Seitz added to the North Stars’ lead at 4:49 with a power play goal. At 5:25, Jace Childs scored shorthanded for the Steel to make the score 3-2. Matthew Derby and Brennan Osen picked up the assists. Less than a minute later, Isaac Hale scored at even strength to tie things up. Jace Childs and Chase Myers-Beck were credited with assists. At 6:50, Tanner Duffney gave the Steel their first lead of the game while Tyler Lodin and Isaac Hale picked up assists. North Star Nick Manney made the score 4-4 at 7:26. The teams remained at a tie until Chase Myers-Beck found the back of the net on the power play at 16:21. Calvin Miska and Jace Childs tallied assists on the goal.
The Steel wasted no time extending their lead in the third period. Just 40 seconds in, Mathias Ahman scored on the power play with help from Jace Childs and Calvin Miska. Russel Barrone scored for the North Stars on their power play at 2:14 to make the score 6-5. The Steel ran away with the rest of the game as they poured on their offense and shut down the North Stars’ power play. Jace Childs lit the lamp again at 2:24 to give the Steel a 7-5 lead and he found the back of the net yet again at 5:54 to make the score 8-5. Calvin Miska scored on the power play at 11:29 and again shorthanded at 12:04 to bring the score to 10-5. Chase Myers-Beck finished off the scoring at 17:12 to give the Steel an 11-5 victory over the North Stars.
Jace Childs and Calvin Miska were both +6 during the game. Childs recorded 10 points during the game with three goals and seven assists. Miska picked up five points-two goals and three assists.
